The Belgian football association (RBFA) sacked Italian-German coach Domenico Tedesco on Friday.

In addition to Lopetegui, a 58-year-old Spaniard, Frenchmen Rudi Garcia and Thierry Henry are being linked to the position by Belgian media.

Between September 2016 and June 2018, the Basque coach led the Spanish national team to 20 matches without defeat - 14 of them wins and six draws - and qualification for the World Cup.

Lopetegui was fired a few days before the tournament kicked off after the announcement that he would be moving to Real Madrid at the end of the competition sowed discord within the squad.

He was replaced by Fernando Hierro.

Sacked after 14 matches by Real Madrid, Lopetegui bounced back with Sevilla, winning the Europa League in 2020.

He joined Wolves in 2022 leaving at the end of the season. He took over West Ham in May 2024 but was fired with the Hammers 14th in the Premier League.
